WHY DID TINLEY FOREST (TFECU) MERGE WITH GLCU?
The Tinley Forest Board of Directors decided to propose a merger with GLCU due to their inability to maintain profitable operations in the current economy. The Board also wanted to ensure that Tinley Forest members continued to receive the benefits of belonging to a credit union.
WHO IS GLCU?
GLCU has been serving members since 1938 and is financially strong with $540 million in assets. GLCU is federally insured up to $250,000 per savings account and $250,000 on IRA accounts. GLCU is the tenth largest of 358 credit unions in Illinois with over 40,000 members and has seven branches in Lake County, Illinois, two branches in Cook County, one only accessible to employees who work in the Federal Reserve Building in Chicago and two branches in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Initially, GLCU served the civil service and US Navy personnel, meeting the financial needs of their members across the U.S. before becoming a community chartered credit union. Anyone who lives or works in Lake or McHenry Counties in Illinois, and Kenosha County in Wisconsin is eligible to join GLCU or if they are an employee or relative of employee of one of our Select Employer Groups.
WHAT WILL MY BRANCH OPTIONS BE?
GLCU is happy to tell you that Barb Kachlik will remain working for GLCU at the Country Club Hills branch. You will now have access to GLCU's other branch locations! Branch hours at our GLCU Country Club Hills branch can be found at www.glcu.org/Locations. GLCU is also part of a network of credit union service centers throughout the country. Through this convenient network, you can perform many of your financial transactions and obtain services at other credit unions belonging to the network. In this way, your credit union is now as close as the nearest
CU Service Centers® locations.
DO I HAVE TO CHANGE MY PAYROLL TO GLCU?
Both your routing number and account number will be changing. We apologize for this inconvenience but in order to make this transition as easy as possible, we request that you update this information with your payroll department/company. During this transition, GLCU will continue to receive your current payroll and make every effort to post timely and correctly.
WILL MY ACCOUNT NUMBER CHANGE?Yes. Your new account number was issued along with the Welcome Packet you received.
SHOULD I UPDATE MY ACH / DIRECT WITHDRAWAL?
Both your routing number and account number will be changing. We apologize for this inconvenience but in order to make this transition as easy as possible, we request that you update this information with each company that you have an ACH/Direct Withdrawal with. During this transition, GLCU will continue to receive your current ACH/Withdrawal and make every effort to post timely and correctly. HOW SHOULD I MAKE MY LOAN PAYMENTS?
If your loan payments are made thru your payroll, and your payroll has been updated with your new GLCU routing number and account number, or set-up on automatic transfer, they will continue with GLCU. You may also use GLCU’s convenient WebConnect online banking site to transfer payments. Alternatively, loan payments can be mailed to: GLCU 2525 Green Bay Road, North Chicago, IL 60064
WHAT ABOUT CHECKS FOR MY ACCOUNT?
Current TFECU members with checking accounts will be contacted by GLCU directly to order new GLCU checks and VISA Check/Debit Cards. Your outstanding checks will be honored; however it is recommended that TFECU checks not be written after GLCU checks are received. Once you receive your new GLCU checks, please dispose of your old TFECU checks. For security purposes GLCU recommends shredding unused TFECU checks, or you can drop them off at the Country Club Hills GLCU branch and we will be happy to securely dispose of them for you.
Don’t have a checking account? We’ve got a checking account just for you. Call (800) 982-7850 or visit any GLCU branch. A card will be ordered and mailed to your address on record. If your address is different from your account, we will require verification of your new address which can usually be satisfied from your driver’s license or recent utility bill.
HOW CAN I ACTIVATE AND/OR PIN MY VISA CHECK CARD?
To activate your card and/or select a 4-digit PIN, have your card handy and call 866-902-6628. You will be asked some personal information. Rest assured, this process is safe and secure.WHAT IF I HAVE A CERTIFICATE OF DEPOSIT THAT IS MATURING?You will receive a maturity notice from GLCU. There is a 7 day grace period after maturity, after the 7 days the Certificate of Deposit will rollover into a new certificate (example, 18 month CD will rollover to a 1 Year CD).
