MAD CITY MONEY
High school students are invited to take on the role of an adult in futuristic Mad City. They’re given jobs, income, a family, and debt and are challenged by visiting merchants to select housing, clothing, transportation, housing necessities, and so much more. If they run into trouble, the Credit Union is just around the corner to help! And don’t forget, Merchants are allowed to put on their best sales hats!

Testimonials
“When I have a career and a steady income, I will manage my money according to the lifestyle that fits my surroundings. I will put extra money in the bank in case of emergencies.”

Student
“I wish that this was a program that was offered when I was in school because it’s very beneficial. It’s very interesting to see the student’s reaction to how much it actually costs to live. Hopefully they will appreciate life and their parents more.”

Financial Service Advisor
“Being a part of the Mad City Money events has been extremely rewarding. It shows that Great Lakes Credit Union cares about the community. We go into schools to provide an effective financial training exercise without attempting to sell a thing. I think this shows our commitment as a resource for tomorrow’s workforce.”
Ray S.
Project Manager
“When I have a career and a steady income, I will talk with a financial advisor and be cheap so that I can save for things that I want. I will make sure that I have the money and skills to do well in life. Expenses and necessities are always first. Want and luxuries come last!”
